Spring Tips For Bay Area HVAC Maintenance

Is your HVAC system ready for spring? There are several things that homeowners can do to prepare for warmer temperatures to maintain and optimize their HVAC system, including reaching out to a Bay Area air conditioning contractor for service and support.

Prepare your HVAC system for the warmer weather with these six tips from East Bay air conditioning experts:

  1. Replace the Filters

Change and replace the air filters in your HVAC system every three months, at least, and spring is the ideal time to start. There is usually more dust and debris in the home air during winter, so it makes sense to change the air filter before you begin to use your cooling air system.

  1. Test the Thermostat

Is your thermostat working accurately? You should test the thermostat routinely to ensure it is. Each season check the thermostat by testing it against other thermometers and recalibrate it accordingly. This is a good time to reprogram your programmable thermostat for warmer weather, too.

  1. Get Rid of Dust

Make sure to clean your system’s vents and registers before the summer weather, also. Vacuum out any hair or dust from the prior winter and consider investing in professional duct cleaning to optimize and make the most of your HVAC’s airflow.

  1. Remove the Cool-Weather Covers

If you cover your outdoor air conditioning unit or condenser, now is the time to remove these covers. Many consumers cover them to protect these units from the elements; give them a close look when removing the covers to ensure they were not visibly damaged during the harsh, winter months.

  1. Try It Out

Test your HVAC system on a comfortable day before the warmest weather hits. Turn the system on and check the vents for air flow. If the system isn’t putting out cool air, it is a good time to call a HVAC contractor for further assistance.

  1. Schedule Service Provision

Speaking of HVAC assistance, this is the perfect time to schedule your maintenance and seasonal service provision. There is a peace of mind that comes from having your HVAC system assessed by a professional; it may also help to make the system more efficient before summer, too.
